A Disposable Tablescape

Before summer ends, I wanted to set a casual table for lunch under the mulberry tree using paper goods, proving that it is possible to set an elegant table with paper plates!

It's hard to believe the "transferware" plate above is a paper plate! Pretty cute, don't you think?

The wooden cutlery even resembles the real thing!

The napkins compliment the toile pattern with the red border nicely. I've been waiting a long time to use them. They were from an estate sale and are "vintage."

With the wind picking up, the mesh domes will keep everything from blowing away.

The place mats are also paper. There are four different Italian scroll patterns on the table, all picking up the black and white of the toile plate.

A few galvanized elements add to the rustic setting.

The Disposable Tablescape:

Placemats: by Cake Vintage "Italian Scroll," NapaStyle
Plates: by Caspari "Festive Toile," Marshalls
Cups: by Caspari "Red Plaid," HomeGoods
Wooden Cutlery: Anthropologie
Mesh Domes: HomeGoods
Napkins: "vintage" from my own collection

I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
I'm also joining Artie at Color Outside the Lines for Vignette Friday.

Delores, you can even make paper plates look elegant! This is a beautiful table setting. I have the napkins in the pattern of the plates, but your vintage napkins are spectacular. Love the red details for the plates. The wire domes are certainly a nice touch. Great to have for dining alfresco. I need to find some for our dinners on the terrace. Beautifully done! ~ Sarah

Dearest Delores,

That is a beautiful 'disposable' setting in a lovely toile pattern with Italian scroll place mats. Great napkin finds!
Would have loved to see the mulberry tree as well...

This is gorgeous!

I am so anti paper plate it's not funny. I even have ceramic TV dinner trays for BB-Q's and still use linen napkins.

My girls are always teasing me that when they move out they are going to invite me over for dinner and everything on the table will be disposable. I'm going to show them this post and tell them if it's set like this then they can go ahead.

Love that wood flatware too!

Gorgeous tablesetting with paper and yes, very elegant. How can you miss with toile. I love toile's and use them in my house a lot. I do keep at all times the black/white toile cocktail napkins, as the same Caspari plates that you have used. Love those mesh domes too. I will be on the look out for some of those. Here in N FL we often do outdoor evening garden parties when we have less humidity. You have shared some great ideas for outdoor entertaining.

Do you know, this is just brilliant! I've been around the "tablesetting" block a few times but never had even conceived of something so cute and so EASY! Do you know what else? =] As I got into the post, I just stopped thinking of it all as paper and started just enjoying the beautiful textures and colors and style of the table. EVERYTHING on it is, well, adorable (in a chic way) and perfectly compliments the whole. I could go on.....

Kudos to you for making something so elegant and with that jaw drop factor - out of paper plates of all things!

Katy Noelle said...

I just had to go and look through it all again. It's like something out of a magazine. Very fun! =]
